Industries Story

Heritage and Evolution Established in 1974, the entity now known as Sharada Industries (SI) originated as "Weldo Works," a modest enterprise founded by Mr. Prabhakar Modak (affectionately known as Balasaheb). Drawing upon his extensive production experience at Philips India, Mr. Modak was driven by a strong entrepreneurial vision. In its nascent stages, the company operated with a small team, focusing on general fabrication and manufacturing school furniture.

Leadership Following the passing of Mr. Modak, his legacy of resilience and growth continues under the capable leadership of his daughter, Ms. Kanchan Pant, who currently serves as Owner and CEO.

Strategic Partnerships and Expansion A pivotal moment arrived when the company secured a contract with Tata Motors (formerly TELCO) to manufacture storage bins. As Tata Motors expanded its operations into truck manufacturing, the demand for specialized sheet metal fabricators grew. Seizing this opportunity, Mr. Modak rebranded the company as Sharada Industries in 1982 to align with this new strategic venture.

Operational Growth While operations initially relied on raw materials supplied by clients, Sharada Industries steadily built the financial autonomy to manage its own procurement. Today, the company processes between 800 and 1,000 metric tonnes of steel monthly. Over nearly three decades, SI has evolved from a three-person workshop into a robust organization employing over 100 professionals. The company’s footprint has expanded significantly, now encompassing 11 manufacturing units situated within the MIDC.

MSME ZED Certification Achieved Gold and Silver Certification status under the Government of India’s MSME Sustainable (ZED) Certification Scheme for the Pune, Lucknow, and Jamshedpur units.
